Charlie Munger famously said, “Show me the incentives and I’ll show you the results.” It’s a simple truth that applies to every level of business. If your team’s incentives align with company goals, you’ll see it reflected in their performance. Misaligned incentives? Expect headaches.

But here’s the kicker: this same concept is fueling my next move. You’re about to see more videos from me. Why? Because video content is being boosted more and getting higher distribution.

Incentives aren’t just about money or bonuses. They’re about creating an environment where the desired actions are naturally rewarded. Whether it’s increased responsibility, public recognition, or simply a sense of shared accomplishment, the right incentive structure drives consistent, meaningful progress. When people (including you!) know exactly what they stand to gain, you can expect sharper focus and better outcomes. Or on the inverse of letting people choose to opt out of choosing to not participate. It’s still a win as you can align the right people working on the right things for the right reasons.

  2. Match the Reward: Tie a clear, motivating incentive to each desired behavior.
  3. Simplify & Track: Make it easy to understand and measure. Confusion kills momentum.
  4. Reward Consistency: Don’t just reward big wins; celebrate steady progress, too.
