The insight is that most things in life require sacrifice. So whatever it is that you want you need to think through what you’re willing to give
In the relentless pursuit of our dreams, the concept of sacrifice often surfaces, framing our daily choices and long-term strategies. For the past four years, I've embarked on a journey defined by what I've come to call "performance sprints," working upwards of 90 hours a week with a clear goal in sight: to semi-retire by the age of 45. Today, I'm excited to share with you not just the progress of this journey, but the philosophy behind it, inspired by none other than the legendary Kobe Bryant.
The idea of performance sprints isn't new, but its application to our professional lives often goes unexplored. For Kobe Bryant, performance sprints were measured in years, not days or weeks, allowing him to achieve unparalleled excellence on the basketball court. Inspired by his discipline, I adopted this approach in my entrepreneurial journey, focusing intensely on building cash flow businesses.
The first venture I started is now on the brink of generating significant cash flow, nearly three years in the making. This isn't just a financial milestone; it's a pivotal moment that represents the exchange of my time now for freedom in the future. It's about buying back years of my life, enabling a future where work becomes a choice, not a necessity.
The insight is that most things in life require sacrifice. So whatever it is that you want you need to think through what you’re willing to give up to have it. Whether that's more time later, or perhaps it’s more time now for you. We’re all making sacrifices and decisions whether we want to or not, being intentional and thoughtful about it is the insight.
What will you give up today to gain more tomorrow?
Remember, this is about more than just hard work; it's about focused, strategic effort towards a specific end.
Cheers,
Young Han
