Blueprint #6: The chances of succeeding are higher if you can get this right.

Lesson: The chances of succeeding are higher if you can get this right.

The truth is, whenever I've learned valuable lessons, it's always been in group settings. Taking a course is one thing, but sticking with it is another; without camaraderie or accountability, it's easy to falter. Take CrossFit as an example, they've mastered group training, creating a community that fosters learning with an expert, accountability through group settings, and a network to share references and perspectives. The chances of succeeding are higher if you can get this right.

I’ve invested countless hours and dollars into school, communities, courses, books, programs and coaching. The one thing that I walk away with every time, is that these three guiding forces increase your rate of learning a new skill.

Functional Expertise + Accountability + Community = Exponential Success

Insight: You Will Learn More Together Than You Will Apart.

Learning a new skill involves two basic elements: functional expertise and accountability. However, the true magic happens and results occur when you add a third force — being part of a group where you can share insights and resources with like-minded folks on the same journey.

Let’s break it down into learning modes:

  • Self- Directed Online Course
  • Lecture Style
  • 1:1 Tutoring
  • Mastermind Groups

All of these learning modalities are incredibly powerful but the secret sauce is in finding your learning modality and adding community which will lead to exponential skills growth. When you’re alone learning and testing you can only learn from your own mistakes. If you’re learning and testing in a group you can learn from other’s wins and losses and optimize testing at scale. This is the power of group programming and finding like minded people on the same journey.

This is also why I’m in several mastermind and professional community groups myself for the various skills that I want to continue to hone, craft, and learn.

Action Item: Who are you learning with?

Who are you learning with? Identify the core people that you know will elevate your learning and results for success. Build it organically or join a community. Either ways surround yourself with like minded people to enhance your abilities.
