My mom would have been an amazing CEO

Always Han Blueprints #2: My mom would have been an amazing CEO

Lesson: My mom would have been an amazing CEO

Reflecting on my mom's remarkable qualities that would make her an incredible CEO. Her communication style stands out for its emphasis on repetition, reinforcing essential points. What sets her apart is her genuine concern for three fundamental aspects: health, happiness, and financial well-being.

Insight: The Power of Clarity and Consistency

Excitement filled the air as I shared my global "got milk" model ad with Mom years ago. She immediately asked if I am eating well, am I happy, and am I making money. She lacked the excitement I was feeling but she never wavers in her clarity and consistency of these three questions.

Mom's clarity and consistency in what she wants to know is a lesson in itself. She is incredibly predictable and refined in her interests, regardless of the situation. She has a take it or leave it attitude with these three guiding questions. Mom’s unwavering concern for these three aspects is much like an analogy the CEO of Limelight Health used in reference to a sales team. He said “Managing a sales team is akin to handling 5-year-olds—repetition is the key to reinforcing understanding”. You can't inspire a team unless they're consistently guided by a clear vision, always thinking. This prompts confidence and a shared understanding among team members.

Action Item:

Ensure your team knows what you want to know and what you would do- regardless if you are riding a high or enduring a low. Ask them “What would I do in this situation?” Make sure they know what you would say or do in every situation. If they do not know, you are not being clear and consistent enough.
